The Legend of Bucur at Imapp 2015

The Romanian House of Parliament is one of the most visible man-made structures in Eastern Europe – even from outer space. It is also the iconic building that defines modern Bucharest. We believed that our story, projected onto this landmark of history and architecture, should pay homage to the city it represents—an inseparable part of its identity.

Legend has it that the name “Bucharest” comes from a shepherd named Bucur. Inspired by this, we created an alternative legend of the shepherd settling in this special part of the world. Our story integrates the four classical elements of nature—fire, water, earth, and sky—along with a fifth element that brings the legend to its dramatic climax: the stars.

Each element is brought to life through traditional Romanian mythical creatures, whose interactions and twists weave an enchanting tale. The story is narrated by a wise old storyteller, adding an extra layer of charm to the entire experience.

In 2015, MotionLab’s breathtaking creation, Legend of Bucur, earned the prestigious Public Choice Award, captivating audiences with its extraordinary storytelling and visual artistry.
